Search category.
The Search category has been divided up into 21 subcategories in which to
locate information on topics from adoption to computer viruses. These
subcategories are listed beneath the Search bar on the left hand side of the
program interface. Simply select a topic and click on the icon to begin your
search.
A database list will appear in the upper grid of the program. Click on the
site name shown in blue, and the information will appear in the lower portion of
the screen. You can change the size of the screen or toggle between split and
full screens by clicking on View.
Also found within the program are many of the taboo sites that you may have
heard of but were unable to find, such as piracy sites, virus creation files and
anarchist information. These have been included strictly for information
purposes and though not illegal to browse - making use of some of the things
they provide may be. It is our intention to include these sites as part of the
program package so that you may be informed of the activities that occur a click
away, rather than partake of them.

Specialty Search Engines
For those times when you want to find more than just web pages and web sites,
some of these specialty search sites will prove useful. They'll help you search
through newsgroups, databases, find software online and more. By limiting
indexing to sites or pages on a subject, specialty engines offer more relevant
results in less time. They also allow "sloppier" searching: searches
on single words, or searches without limiters, and produce better results than
they would in general tools.

International Searches
The International option offers a collection of web sites from 171 countries
around the world. Use these helpful links to locate people and search foreign
directories from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe! There are miscellaneous sites for
various global interests as well.

Invisible Web
The Invisible Web, or the Deep Web, is the vast hidden store of searchable
databases that are publicly accessible, but not indexed by major search engines
for technical reasons. The largest part of the Invisible Web is made up of
information stored in databases that a search engine spider cannot access. The
spider can tell you what the page may be about, but cannot access the content of
those pages.
We have compiled a source of Invisible Web tutorials and resources for your
convenience.

Case Log
The Case Log offers a collection of information and organization tools that
an investigator may find useful in his or her day to day operations. Some of the
applications and tools available within the note book are:
- Daily Planner
- Contact DB
- Investigative Sources DB
- Investigative Tools
- Case Log DB
- Missing Person's Checklist

Offline Resources
You will find a database of the offline sources that are available in each
state and are useful for gathering investigative information. This section
provides contact information and notes on each source listed.
There are many ways to get information via the US Mail system or by making
phone calls. Sometimes that is the only way to get the information. Hopefully,
in the future, the state and local governments will put all their information on
the Internet. Some are already doing that and we'll bring that information to
you as we get it.
For now though, you can get information from the public records at the state
and/or local of the following types:
Business Records, Criminal Records, Driver Records, Vehicle Ownership, Vital
Records, and Voter registration.

Professional Tips.
We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ's) and tips for
how and where to begin searching for a person. Many investigators and other
researchers will use online Internet information brokers to obtain public
records. However, with a little leg work, Internet surfing and research, one can
obtain most of their subject’s background information from public sources.
It is our intention to expand and enhance this category as the nature of the
Internet and our resources evolve.

Tools
Disk Snoop: Disk Snoop is a simple little utility that will allow you to
search a hard drive for different Internet type files. Quick searches are
provided for Internet graphic files, HTML files and text files. Disk Snoop will
also allow you to search for a specific file using a file name.
Superlok: Superlok is a simple-to-use encryption program. Both encryption and
decryption use the same process. The first time you process a file, it will
encrypt. The second time, with the same password, it will decrypt. It basically
works like a toggle switch.
Search Utility: The Search Utility is a very useful tool that remains as an
icon in your system tray (where your clock is) until called upon, at which point
it becomes a powerful desktop search tool for the Internet. With it, one can
locate people, search newsgroups, locate businesses, or even perform general
searches, using only a couple of key strokes.
FBI Files: Want to discover what the FBI has on file about you? You might
think they have nothing -- then again, you could be wrong. There is only one way
to find out for sure...ask! In this report, you will discover not only how to
obtain your files and where to send for them, but you will also discover some of
the codes and acronyms used in FBI files.
